Balkan Biocert Skopje is the market leader in certifying organic operators in Macedonia and is the first accredited and authorized Inspection and Certification body in the Republic of Macedonia.

Balkan Biocert Skopje offers Inspection and certification of plant production, wild collection, animal husbandry, beekeeping, processing and trade with organic products in the country and abroad, in compliance with the currently effective national and international regulations, rules and legal requirements (MK Law for Organic Agriculture; IACB standard as equal to the EU Reg.834/2007 and 889/2008; Bio Suisse).

 

We operate with well trained and highly professional staff that provides high quality and affordable services to interested organic farmers, processors and traders. Continuous training of our staff is provided primarily from our partner FiBL (Research Institute of Organic Agriculture, Switzerland).

Accreditations

Balkan Biocert Skopje is accredited by the Institute for Accreditation of the Republic of Macedonia and authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Supply of the Republic of Macedonia.

Since March 2012, in addition to the national accreditation, Balkan Biocert Skopje is accredited by IOAS (International Organic Accreditation Service), headquartered in North Dakota, USA.

Since 13^th of February 2013 Balkan Biocert Skopje has the recognition of the European Commission and is on the list of control bodies and control authorities competent to carry out controls and issue certificates in third countries for the purpose of equivalence.

It confirms that the system of inspection and certification of Balkan Biocert Skopje is equal to the system in which the certification bodies within the EU work.

 

Since October 2015, Balkan Biocert Skopje is recognized by the Federal Office for Agriculture FOAG and at the same time, a contract was signed with International Certification Bio Suisse AG.

Accordingly, Balkan Biocert Skopje is the only certification body in Macedonia, authorized to do the inspections according to Bio Suisse standard.

 

Those achievements of Balkan Biocert Skopje, provide an opportunity to the organic producer in Macedonia, to place their products on the EU market and in Switzerland.

 

Balkan Biocert Skopje has published the certificates of its operators on bioC, the Global Organic Certification Directory. This makes a significant contribution to the transparency and credibility of Macedonian organic products being traded.

Stakeholders all over the world are now able to validate and track, in real time, the certification status of these operators and their products. This milestone achievement helps mitigate risk in the supply chains and provides greater assurance to processors and traders of organic products from Macedonia. It will also help to increase the reputation and credibility of Macedonian organic producers.
