ACO Certification Limited (formerly Australian Certified Organic) has been providing organic certification services for approximately 30 years and is Australia’s largest organic certification body with approximately 40 staff members and 60 contract inspectors.
ACO were formerly a wholly owned subsidiary of Australia’s Peak Organic Industry Body, Australian Organic Limited. The two companies demerged in 2018, and ACO was reconstituted as a not for profit, public company.
As a not-for-profit company, ACO is governed by a Board of five directors and the company’s constitution requires any profits to be reinvested in advancing organic and sustainable agriculture and to improve the services offered to clients.
ACO main office is based in Brisbane, in the State of Queensland. A second office was established in Adelaide, South Australia in 2024.
