Membership is open to private or public organisations active in the field of control or certification related to organic agriculture as laid down in the European organic legislation which fulfill following criteria:
For EU-based control bodies: the recognition by the competent authority in the country of registration.
For non EU-based control bodies: the approval by the European Commission or by an EU- Member State who granted an import authorization.
For public control authorities: the recognition by the competent authority in the country of registration.
For association of control bodies and/or authorities: no additional requirements.
