The Task force risk-assessment was created following a decision taken
by the General Assembly in April 2015. It aims to:
Exchange experiences and lessons learned among EOCC members in relation to the application of risk assessment in the different EU member states.
Elaborate a corresponding report containing recommendations for more effective and more harmonised application of intelligence and development of available capacities at the level of EOCC members.
Provide for a background information which serves as a solid basis for EOCC involvement in policy work in relation to risk assessment in the organic sector in the EU.
Task force risk assessment is chaired by Jan Hoekman.
Jan has been working as a certifier for Skal Biocontrole for 8 years. His focus is on the agricultural production, with the specialism for organic animal production. Skal Biocontrole is the only certifying organization for the organic sector in the Netherlands. As a certifier, he focuses mainly on the severe non-conformities and is with his team members responsible for the setup of the yearly risk-based unannounced inspections.
Before he started to work for Skal Biocontrole, Jan worked several years as research coordinator “Poultry for the Animal Sciences Group” (part of Wageningen University). Jan coordinated research for broilers, rearing hens and layers. This research was related mostly to the conventional production method, but he was also involved in some research projects regarding the organic production method.
Beside his work as certifier Jan has some additional tasks in the Skal Biocontrole organization, including being a project manager for several internal projects (plan to integrate, inputs, several IT-projects) and a member of the IT-team of Skal
